China Medical Board President Dr. Lincoln Chen attended the Eighth Board of Directors' meeting of the Global Healh Workforce Alliance (GHWA), a private-public partnership based at the WHO in Geneva that promotes education, training, and workforce development around the world. Dr. Chen attended the meeting as a member of the Board, having earlier served as the Founding Chair. The meeting, Chaired by Dr. Sigrun Mogedal of Norway, was hosted by the Ministry of Health of the Chinese Government at Fragrant Hill Empark Hotel in Beijing China on June 13-16 2009. GHWA is an alliance that mobilizes government, professional societies, non-governmental organizations, agencies, and foundations to work together for strengthening the role of health workers in improving the performance of health systems around the world. The Beijing meeting was noted by presentations by the Chinese of human resources strategies in China in the context of its recent health reforms. As a partner and member of GHWA, the CMB mission of medical education and research focused on China and Asia reinforced the overall goals of the GHWA Alliance. Back to Top
