President and Trustees Call on Myanmar Minister of Health
April 29, 2009

President Lincoln Chen and Trustees Mary Bullock and Wendy Harrison O'Neill with Myanmar Health Minister Professor Kyaw Myint and colleagues. On April 29, 2009, the President, Lincoln Chen, and two CMB Trustees, Mary Bullock and Wendy Harrison O'Neill, called on Myanmar Health Minister Professor Kyaw Myint here at the country capital city, Naw Pyi Taw. After nearly 20 years of grant support to four medical universities in Myanmar permitted by a US "humanitarian waiver" to promote health of the Myanmar people, the CMB delegation called on the Minister to review progress of CMB's support and future directions. The Minister conveyed warm appreciation for CMB support that has played a critical role in library development, internet access, and faculty development in the four Myanmar medical universities (University of Medicine I, University of Medicine II, University of Medicine - Mandalay, and University of Community Health - Magway). The delegation plans to report its findings to the CMB Trustees as inputs into CMB policy decisions of its future work in Myanmar. Back to Top
